Guide to Finding the Right Aircon Size

1/25/2023

Picture
Your aircon's efficiency heavily depends on the space it will cool. Getting a bigger or smaller aircon is not necessarily better. An aircon unit that's too big for the size of you room is likely to turn on and off more frequently and in effect consume more energy in the process.
On the other hand, an aircon that's too small for the size of your room never stops running as it will continuously work to reach your desired temperature level. However, it won't have the enough power to do this.

As a consequence, an aircon that's not right size for your room can significantly increase your electricity consumption per month.

Below is a guide to finding the right aircon size for your room.

Picture
A common mistake in kitchen cabinet design is installing the upper cabinets too high. This often necessitates the use of a step stool just to be able to reach upper shelves.

So how high should upper kitchen cabinets be installed? Answer: It should be within 15 to 18 inches from the countertop. With this height, average user will be able to reach all shelves without a using a step stool.

Some exceptions to these standards are the upper cabinets that is above a refrigerator and the cabinet above a cooktop,

Rangehood Clearance

Picture
A range hood is actually one of the most important appliances in the kitchen. It consists of a canopy and a blower to extract the air pollution caused by cooking. By capturing and eliminating the contaminated air right at the source, the range hood maintains the air quality in the kitchen and makes cleaning much easier.

Picture
Installing the rangehood too far form the cooktop makes it ineffective while positioning it too close makes it a fire hazard so careful planning must be followed.

In general, most installations require a distance of 24 inches between the bottom of the hood and the cooking surface.

Over a gas range, this distance should be between 24" and 30", unless otherwise specified.

This is a general guideline. It is always best to refer to the installation manual for your specific rangehood model.

Clue when success is near

Success has a very CLEVER way of "HIDING" itself from people  who don't deserve it.

Not everybody are aware of this fact,  that's why there are only  very few people who truly succeed in business, studies, work or any other endeavor they chose.

The TRICK is to "HOLD ON" a little longer the moment we feel like giving up while on our way to achieve whatever goal we want in life.

What then is the sign that we are almost to succeed? It is when we feel like we want to quit, then we are closer than we think.

Key in our Hands

If we will only be honest enough, we will see that we're spending our lives complaining about things that we can actually change by ourselves.

Poverty is an example. Lagi nating naririnig na tungkulin ng gobyerno ang paunlarin ang mamamayan. This maybe true, but many times, a government cannot do it without the citizens doing their part; or sometimes our leaders will stray from their purpose or become oppressive.

Lesson: If we're expecting the next president and other officials to free us from poverty, then be ready for disappointment.

Reason: Because it is more"OUR" job than theirs!

As a song stated:
"So oftentimes it happens
While we live our lives in chains
& we never even know that all the while, we have the key".-Eagles

Waiting vs Finding

Picture
Whenever we sit and wait for the right job, the dream business, perfect partner or anything we want in life, it will usually take a long time to arrive. But most of the time it will never come.

That's because WAITING yields a very different result from SEEKING.
Often, this spells the difference between living a mediocre life vs a fulfilled one.

Also the difference between success and failure.

If this is our case and we want to know why, simply ask ourselves "Am I waiting or am I Finding"?

No Shortcut to Success

The internet has open up new opportunities for everybody to earn big outside of employment. But although we see lots of ordinary people become instant celebrities who even became millionaires, still the same principle of success applies.

Try talking to those people and we will see that there is no such thing as an overnight success.

With all the tools available that we can leverage on today, still genuine success can only be achieved thru a challenging and sometimes painful process that unfolds like this:

a. Doing the thing
b. Committing mistakes
c. Correcting mistakes
d. Doing it again, and again, and again for the nth time..
e. Finally - Success

Strong character and emotional strength is needed in each step.
Now, if somebody try to convince you of a way to make big money without going thru the process, you probably knows it's a scam.

Entitlement Mentality

Picture
The idea of giving free housing to everybody; giving regular dole outs; or even sharing one’s wealth as some politicians promises, may sound good, but sadly, will not solve the problem of poverty.

Why? Because in most cases, being poor is often a product of ones mindset rather than a condition. While it’s true that majority of poor people exist because they were born poor (me included), we can also become poor by having bad spending habits, laziness, bad decisions, staying in a dead end job, no effort to improve oneself, and having the entitlement mentality or those who believe that the government or the rich owes him something and therefore should take care of him.

One of the biggest irony is that money doesn’t solve money problem. In fact giving large amounts of money to the poor who are often unprepared to handle it can end up in just making them even poorer. This explains why there were big income earners who are broke now broke; Or the highly paid athlete, celebrity, or the lotto winner who ends up in an even miserable condition than before.

I admire politicians who are aware of these realities and knows that the best way to serve the people is not thru dole-outs, but by teaching them to be self-reliant, empowered and independent from other people.

As a very rich man once said:
"If you take all the money in the world and divide it EQUALLY among everybody, it would soon be back in the SAME pockets where it was before."

Reason: It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development.

Power of Urgency

Have you wondered why in times of desperate need, we can accomplish things that seem otherwise impossible?

A common example is someone who's able to raise huge amount to pay hospital bill even when he has no money from the start; or a daily wage earner able to send 5 kids to college; or an overdue electricity bill paid within the day for fear of losing service, or surviving seven months of pandemic in a tight lock down without a job.

It’s the sense of urgency that can turn anyone of us from zero to hero. Imagine what we can become if we treat success this way everyday, baka wala ng taong mahirap.

According to John Huntsman:
“If there is silver lining to bad times, it is this: In the face of severe crisis, our mind is normally at its sharpest”.

Motivation and Bathing

Imagine how far we can get ahead in life once we've decided to do something and stay motivated to do it with all our heart everytime we wake up.

Starting can be easy, staying motivated till the end is a different story. That's why it can be the most important formula for success in any endeavor. According to Mr. Zig Ziglar; "Motivation is like taking a bath, if you stop doing it, you begin to stink".

We need to find a good reason kung bakit tayo gigising ng maaga.

Past Present Future

If we find it difficult to attain inner peace, maybe our mind is wandering where it should not be. In reality, we can always handle the present. It is only the thought of the past and the uncertainty of the future that tortures us. And the tendency of our mind is to constantly drag us into the past or frighten us with the thought of the uncertain future where both can destroy us.

Just how do we know where we are? According to a philosopher, here are the clues:

"If you are DEPRESSED, you are living in the past.
If you are ANXIOUS, you are living in the future.
If you are at PEACE, you are living in the present" - Lao Tzu

Thow out the Junk

9/3/2022

One of the things to do If we want to improve our living condition is to stop storing and start disposing junk in our house. Most Filipinos and other third world countries ay ayaw magtapon kahit sira o luma na yung gamit dahil nanghihinayang. Resulta: Magulong bahay at di ka halos makakilos dahil sa nakaharang na mga kahon, bote, sirang TV, lumang computer, sirang printer, lumang damit at iba pang sirang kagamitan na kung ilang taon ng nakatambak.

Just as our body feels better when we clean it out...so does our house.
Ganun din, ang ilog na di dumadaloy ay bumabaho.

According to Andrew Mattews, our life is an ENERGY SYSTEM. When you throw out things, you create a vacuum, & you get things moving. Notice how often new things come along to replace what you give away. Makikita natin ito sa mauunlad na mga bansa. Kapag itinapon natin yung luma, sooner or later, magkakaroon ng bago. Mahirap ipaliwanang pero nangyayari.

Living with junk affects our lives! So if we really want to rise from being a third world country to a better status, throw out that junk.

Waking up Powerful

How we wake up each morning affects the outcome of our whole day. Do you wake up feeling bad from yesterdays experiences, or feeling alive and enthusiastic for todays opportunities?

One thing I’ve learned if we really want to be happy and live a successful life is that we should never ever allow our thoughts or any bad experiences to control our emotions. That's because we can always control our thoughts but not our emotions once it has taken over.

It is best to live your life the way you want to instead of being at the mercy of  difficult people, the weather, your job, or anything that will prevent you from being alive and enthusiastic.

Awaken Human beings are not grumpy and miserable, they are in charge of their lives and therefore happy and contented.

I use to do a lot of explaining before just to prove that I'm right. Hindi talaga ako nagpapatalo basta alam kong ako yung tama.

It's when I grow older that I realized it drains a lot of my energy whenever I deal with people who have no intention to understand, or those who can only understand according to their level of perception.

Arguing with such people is useless, and deprives us of our "HAPPINESS".

Sa ngayon, kung baluktot ang isip ng kausap ko at ipilit nyang itim ang puti at puti ang itim ay ok na sa akin. Forcing such people to change their mind is a bad idea.

ENTITLEMENT MENTALITY

People are tired of being poor yet very few are willing to really do something about it except mag rally at manisi.

Notice that the catchphrase these days is: “The government should do something about it”. Bisyo na ng iba na mag demand and to ask the govt to take care of all kinds of problems.. Including food on their table.

While the govt has it's share of responsibilities, hindi naman nito kaya lahat. Expecting the govt. to take care of our every need will only lead to MORE poor people. Marami kasi ang aasa na lang at di na magsisikap. It's better to empower ourselves in every way possible.

Realize that we ourselves have the power over our own future, and what happen, or doesn’t happen to us.

If we want to reach our full potential, iwanan na natin yung "ENTITLEMENT MENTALITY".

Sleep and Success

One of the things to do if we want to succeed; or change the world, or to simply rise from poverty is to get up early in the morning, iligpit ng maayos ang higaan, ihanda ang almusal, isaayos ang paligid, at isunod yung iba pang mga bagay na kailangan magawa sa bawat araw.

The bible warns us; 'He who loves to sleep and the folding of hands, poverty will set upon you like a thief in the night.' Proverbs 20:13.

Start with Our Inner World

Too many people waste their energy focusing on issues in which they have no control. They worry too much about the weather next week, the anticipated second wave, the so called Big ONE, the war in Europe and the middle east, price of gas, or what the next president or vice president will do.

Unless you are in the position of running the nation, or your responsibilities are of national importance, preoccupying ourselves with such issues only makes us feel powerless.

If all you do is sit at home each evening, shaking your head as you watch the news, wondering what this country or the world is coming to, then you’re just wasting your time.

Advise: We can focus instead on smaller but equally important things, like helping someone in need, planning a business or earning strategy in the coming new normal, a renewed spiritual well being, or anything where we can actually make a difference.

Money and Plan

After the lockdown, the worse thing other than having no money is having no plan. Others may say; "what good is a plan if you have no money"? So which really is more important, money or plan? For most people, it's very difficult to answer. For them, it's like the classic chicken and egg dilemma.

Same thing when people ask me what's the best business to start. My answer is anything, as long as you have a clear goal in mind. Because it's not really about the business, but the plan behind it that will determine if it will work or not.

To quote entrepreneur Jim Rohn:

I remember saying to my mentor, "If I had more money, I would have a better plan." He quickly responded, "I would suggest that if you had a better plan, you would have more money."
You see, it's not the amount that counts; it's the plan that counts.

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF LEVERAGE

"Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I will move the entire earth"

Archimedes 287 -212BC Ancient Greek Mathematician and Inventor

How do you remove a nut without a wrench; or lift a car without a jack; or run multiple branches of a business without a team; or market your business around the globe without the internet; or how do you triple your income with the same number of working hours you have? Most people will answer; Impossible.

Without leverage, life becomes hard and painful. Even simple task  becomes hardwork to achieve.

But how come some people achieve so much with so little and with the same 24 hours we all have? The answer is LEVERAGE. One thing in common with highly successful people is their mastery of the Art and Science of leverage, yet most of us live our lives never utilizing its awesome power.

Below are examples where we can use it to solve the most common excuses that people have when we talk of starting a business.

Question: How can i start a business when?

- I do not have money for capital

- I do not have any experience

- I do not know what products to sell

- I do not know what services to offer

- I do not have strong and quality network

- I have no time

- I do not know about business system

- I do not have any business skills

- I am shy and have low self esteem

ANSWERS:

- I do not have money for capital – Then use other peoples money. If most of us are not afraid to buy big ticket items like expensive phones, cars, house using loaned money, then why not in a well studied business?

- I do not have any experience – Then learn from other peoples experience.

- I do not know what products to sell – Then sell other peoples product. Ever heard of people becoming millionaires selling real estate projects from developers. Or the middleman millionaire.

- I do not know what services to offer – Then sell other peoples services. In my case, I'm not a carpenter but I own a business that do house renovation projects involving home interior works.

- I do not have a network – Then search for other networks and join them.

-I do not know about business system – Then use other peoples proven business systems.

-I do not have any business skills – Then allow yourself to practice various business skills by doing the actual thing. I remember volunteering to be an apprentice and work for free in exchange for the learnings I will acquire.

- I am shy and have low self esteem – Then invest time for your personal growth.

Malasakit Center

8/22/2021

The Malasakit Center is a One-Stop Shop where indigent patients can efficiently access financial medical assistance from agencies such as PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Prior to the establishment of Malasakit Centers, indigents had to fill up multiple documents and go to separate government offices to lessen their medical expenses which is a tedious process.
The Malasakit Center simplifies the process of availing all subsidies from the following government agencies.

  • Department of Health
  • Department of Social Welfare and Development
  • PhilHealth
  • Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office
  • Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation

There is a total of 129 Malasakit Centers that were established as of July 2021. More centers will be opened in the country soon.

Malasakit Center Process
For in-patients, go to the Billing Section of the hospital and ask for an assessment of your billing and for a medical abstract. Bring this to the Malasakit Center.
In the center, you will be asked to fill up the Malasakit Unified Form to request medical assistance. The social worker in the center will assist and direct you to the Philhealth desk for coverage. If you are not a Philhealth member, you will be automatically given membership.
If the amount covered by Philhealth is insufficient, you will then be directed to PCSO and DOH within the Malasakit center who will get the additional fund from the Presidential Social Fund (PSF).

The assistance will not be in cash but in a form of a document that gives you the funding for your hospital bills. Just present it to the hospital billing section and it will be deducted from your bill.
A patient may avail of up to P50,000 from the Presidential Social Fund or PSF depending on the assessment coming from the different government agencies.

Malasakit Center also maintains a database system for efficient gathering and retrieval of patient’s information. An express lane for persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens is also available at the facility. Outpatients may also avail of assistance for their medical checkups and medicines.

Steps on how to avail:
